I have a five-year-old Toshiba laptop that still works pretty good. However, after a few minutes of video playbacks, the laptop gets hot and occasionally shuts itself off due to overheating. I opened the laptop up and cleaned out the dust (which was pretty bad) and even replaced its internal fan. That made things better, but I still had a very occasional shutdown -- I think the internal fan is not being triggered all the time when the laptop's CPU heats up.To fix this problem, I got the Aicheson ultra slim laptop cooler. I was dubious about it, thinking it would raise the laptop too high off the table to make it easy to type, and also thinking that the cooler's fans would make noise. However, this Aicheson unit was inexpensive, so I gave it a try.And it works! I have not had a shutdown due to overheating since I started using this cooler. Just as important, it is quiet and the height it adds off the table is not a bother for my application. I don't do a lot of typing on this computer, but it might be more of a bother if I did a *lot* of typing.This Aicheson laptop cooler is powered through a USB plug and the company thoughtfully provides a USB pass-through port on the plug, so that you don't lose a USB port when you plug the cooler in. The fans also make a blue glow whenever they have power, which I assumed was a silly feature aimed at teenage gamers. However, I often put my laptop to sleep and the port I use for the laptop cooler stays active while the computer is sleeping. With the blue lights, I can tell at a glance that the cooler is still working, so that I can unplug it while the computer sleeps. Therefore, I like the blue lights.The only feature I would like on this laptop cooler would be a convenient on/off switch, so that I did not have to unplug it to turn it off.The Aicheson laptop cooler turned out to be a no-brainer for me. It makes both my computer and me happy.
