I have to sit in a recliner a lot to elevate my legs, so my husband bought this for me to put my laptop on so my laptop does not get too warm and neither does my lap. Plenty of ventilation.I did use it once or twice to hold a laptop, but my primary use for this is to hold my iPad at a comfortable angle when I'm sitting at the table reading. Works very well. They are weak in their assembly, it is a simple and little adaptable product, low Price / Value ratioI already have a metal stand just like this. It is much better. The support arms that fit into the slots are not strong and don't go into the slots easily. It takes quite a bit of effort to put them into the slots. Also the product came in a torn box, in spite of buying a new product. It can get the work done but would really recommend the product. This laptop stand made of plastic that is so thin, the supporting brace broke after about one week of use with my fairly lightweight 14" laptop. So I then replaced it with one advertised as aluminum only to find out it is aluminum alloy, which is mainly plastic with aluminum shavings mixed in the resin. One more example of Chinese trickery in business tactics. Buyer beware.... of Chinese goods because they are just no good!Work according to plan. I have no more heating problems with my deviceI can swear that the description said Aluminum when i ordered and now it says Plastic as a material. Is it possible the sellers can present different web page based on the info whether you are new buyer or has bought one. I suspected that with another purchase of LED bulbs when I ordered the Dimmable version , but when i received it the product and amazon page description has switched to non dimmable. I thought I might have missed it the first time but now it seems more plausible and a kind of scam.Anyways, I would have kept it even if its plastic but sturdy enough to be usable for a lap top. The product is flimsy and may be usable for Mac air , that does not need to move. Its going back.
